On October 15, Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd.(GSI), the subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), started constructing a 1600 passenger/3658-meter-lane luxury ro-ro passenger vessel series built for British P&O Ferries. This vessel is a hybrid with oil and electricity and has propulsion devices on the fore and aft, and can run on both ends.
The order for the ship was signed on September 23, 2019. There are 4 ships in the same series, and the first ship to be built this time. This is a type of ro-ro passenger ship with environmental protection and economic performance. It adopts a hybrid power system of generator and battery pack. At the same time, it is equipped with two pod thrusters at the front and rear. It can achieve two-way navigation on the fore and aft. It is also equipped with a heat recovery device. Sailing, while charging. The economic and environmental performance of the entire ship is in a leading position in the world.
