Twins of VISTA’s 75,000 DWT Ships Were Named in the Same Day

On January 7st, GSI, the subsidiary of CSSC, ushered in the first naming ceremony in 2019. The twins ships of 75,000 DWT VISTA No. 1 and No. 2 were named on the same day. Ms. Liu Qian, Deputy General Manager of the Transportation and Finance Department of China Exim Bank, and Ms. Dong Keshi, Deputy General Manager of Strategic Customer Department of China Reinsurance Group, named No. 1 and No. 2 as “Hafnia Hong Kong” and “Hafnia Shang Hai” respectively. The two ships were subsequently signed and delivered on January 8 and 10.
It is understood that this series of ships is the first two ships of the series LR1 tanker of GSI, which was established by VISTA SHIPPING, a joint venture established by Danish Hafnia Shipping Company and CSSC Shipping Company Limited. After delivery, it will be put into operation by the world's largest LR1 capacity pool, Straits Tankers, managed by Hafnia. The ship has a length of 228.4 meters, a width of 38 meters, a depth of 18.3 meters and a design draft of 11 meters. It is a combination of previous construction experience and modern technology. According to the requirements of the shipowner and the market demand, the shallow draught green energy-saving and environmentally-friendly LR1 tanker are basically the same as the classic ship type 50,000 DWT tons, while the deadweight and capacity are almost 1.6 times that of the MR tanker. Compared with the MR type tanker, the ship type can bring higher economic benefits to the shipowner. It has good expectations and great market potential in the renter market. It is expected to replace the MR ship type of one of the three main ship types in the future and become the main ship of world's product/ crude oil tanker.
