Two Ships Were Named and Delivered at The Same Day


On July 21st, two ships were named and delivered at the same day in Nansha factory.
At 8:45 a.m., the NO.4 ship of 262,000dwt VLOC built for Singapore Berge Bulk was delivered. The shipowner awarded an additional $10,000 to GSI employees for their great efforts for this project.
At the same time, the naming ceremony of the ship No. 2 of 114,000dwt Crude/Product oil tankers built for COSCO Shipping was held in the shipbuilding wharf of Nansha factory.
At the naming ceremony, Zhong Huaying, Chairman of the CPPCC of the Guangzhou Nansha District, was invited to be the Godmother of the ship, and she named the ship “Rong Lin Wan”. Zhao Jinwen, Vice President of COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation Co., Ltd., Vice president of COSCO Marine (Southeast Asia) Co. Ltd., Fu Xin, managing director of COSCO Marine Oil Transportation (Singapore) Co. Ltd., Zhu Maijin, general manager of Shanghai COSCO Shipping Oil Transportation Co. Ltd. were invited to attend the naming ceremony.
The 114,000dwt Crude/Product oil tanker’s length overall is 250 meters, length between perpendiculars is 245.4 meters, breath is 44 meters, depth is 21.5 meters, design draft is 13.7 meters, service speed is 14.5 knots, and endurance is about 20,000 nautical miles. It’s the Aframax tanker that researched and developed by GSI independently. The hull has been optimized many times, so that the fuel consumption has been reduced to a minimum, and the energy-saving emission reduction effect has been achieved. It meets the requirements of phase II of the EEDI index.
GSI and COSCO Shipping signed the delivery document for “Rong Lin Wan”. It is reported that after the delivery, it will serve for the world's largest oil company – Shell Group, just like its sister ship, “Nan Lin Wan” delivered by GSI in April.
After the naming ceremony of “Rong Lin Wan”, at 10:30, at the other end of the shipbuilding wharf in Nansha factory, the naming ceremony for No. 4 ship of 262,000dwt VLOC began. Ms. Nikola Lowry-Lee, the God mother, named the ship “Berge Annapurna”.
Mr. Alan Lowry, technical director of Berge Bulk, Mr. Kevin Lee, the Godfather, Mr. Albert Charles Midwinter, the leader of the construction team of Berge Bulk, was invited to attend the naming ceremony.
“Berge Annapurna” is the last of the four 262,000dwt VLOC, which were built by GSI for Berge Bulk. It is a new type of green ore carrier which integrates comfort, low carbon and environmental protection. It uses a lot of innovative technology and environmental protection technology, which greatly improves the economic performance index and market competition status of this type of ship. It adopts the design of “five cargo hold, five hatch cover” in cargo hold areas and maximum loading capacity, which brings great convenience to the operation and management in the future.
The length overall is 327 meters, the length between perpendiculars is 321.50 meters, the breadth is 57 meters, the depth is 25 meters, and the design draft is 18.10 meters. It is understood that after the delivery of the ship, Berge Bulk will gradually form a fleet of 12 million DWT, with about 60 ships.
