“Arc 7 ice level, pod propulsion equipment and two-way ice-breaking system, can operate at minus 50 degrees Celsius, these words are enough to make the ship unique in the world.” On November 21st, GSI built the world’s first polar condensate tanker that the carrying capacity is 44500t for the Greek Dynacom company has started in Nansha plant, the ship owner’s representative use these words to describe the powerful function at the opening ceremony.
It is understood that after the completion of the condensate tanker will be used in the world’s largest LNG project—YAMAL LNG project. On January 14th, Yamal company signed a long-term charter agreement with the shipowner Dynagas, on the same day, Dynagas signed the shipbuilding agreement with GSI. The ship is a special Arc 7 ice-breaking design, the ship is about 214 meters long, the breadth moulded is 34 meters, the depth moulded is 18.3 meters, and the design draft is 11.7 meters, which is the perfect combination of icebreaker and product tanker.
It is reported that with the company’s management and R&d team more than ten moths hard working, as well as the Yamal, Dynacom and other aspects of the joint effort, GSI overcame the difficulties of the polar specification research and evidence collection, and break through problem of the large heat input welding steel plates, and successfully completed the work after the ice model test.
